Obertauern is one of the Alpen skiing resorts where snow is guaranteed. And that means: ideal skiing conditions from the end of November to the beginning of May!

In the fantastic Salzburg mountain world at altitudes between 1,630 and 2,313 m, there is 1 gondola, 19 chair lifts and 6 tow ropes. Approx. 100 km of fabulous skiing slopes and 26 km of cross-country trails. A great après ski scene, exciting nightlife and the most modern in hotel comfort, top wellness and fitness facilities and last but not least a wonderfully relaxed holiday atmosphere!

The snow researchers open the ski season in Obertauern

The season opens on the 17th of November and that means that a really special group of individuals, also known as the “Snow Researchers”, gather again in Obertauern. Since the early eighties, this special group of people including Franz Beckenbauer, Uwe Seeler, Erich Ribbeck and Werner Zimmer has had the special honour of opening the skiing season in Obertauern.
