Obertauern

What may be extraordinary for others, is a matter of course for us.

Even in times when we have to emphasise safety and distancing measures, we still long to be free as well as light-hearted, and need to rest and relax. This is particularly true when it comes to your winter vacation, for which one thing is very important: snow.

Here are the reasons why Obertauern – Austria‘s snowiest ski resort – is the ideal holiday destination in this very special winter:

  • You are already on the mountain and do not have to wait in a big crowd with other visitors to get up to the slopes
  • There are no waiting times or larger crowds at the ski lifts
         • You can go straight from your hotel to the slopes – there is no need for long drives
         • 10 entry points and 26 lift systems extending across the entire region ensure the most relaxed lift-rides
         • You can reach all of Obertauern’s entry points easily on foot, or you get straight to the slopes from your hotel
         • It takes just a few minutes to reach the valley towns of Tweng and Untertauern by public ski bus
  • The Salzburg region’s fresh and clean alpine air provides an optimal sanitary environment for your safe vacation
  • 26 well-placed ski lodges throughout the entire ski area provide Austrian specialties for unique culinary delights
  • 100km of prepared pistes and a lot of open country provide more than enough space for winter-sports fans of of all stripes – even for deep-snow afficionados
  • The long winter season from November until May provides ample opportunities to avoid vacationing in peak season
  • Every guest gets a free neck gaiter/bandana with his/her ski pass – to use it as a face mask
  • There are only very few gondola-lifts in Obertauern. There are almost exclusively open-air chair lifts that will take you the wonderful slopes of your choosing.

All accommodations in Obertauern have put much thought into their sanitary measures to ensure your safe and pleasant vacation.

Hygiene, cleanliness, distancing, but also quietness, relaxation, and enjoyment are the top priorities here.

Due to the many different forms of accommodation, there are many different and individual circumstances to consider.

From wellness areas and restaurants to receptions, ski cellars, and sun terraces – all areas will be prepared accordingly to ensure that your vacation will be as pleasant and relaxed as possible, despite some necessary adaptions.

If you have any questions regarding your specific situation, please contact your hotel/accommodation directly.

Ski and snowboard schools

Obertauern’s ski schools provide a simple yet particularly comfortable way to handle all processes. Additionally, they created an extraordinary service to make your skiing vacation even more enjoyable. Generally, skiing is an outdoor sport and the risk of contagion is smaller in the open air. Ski schools are committed to minimise contact points and protect everybody involved wherever possible.

  • Maintain a minimum distance of 1 metre to people who are not part of your group
  • Please wear a face mask in customer areas of ski schools
  • The maximum group size is 10 people per group
  • All meeting places, processes, as well as all activities take place outdoors
  • Meeting points of ski schools will be expanded to avoid crowds
  • All services can be booked online and you can call them for any information you may need, to ensure that every ski course can be handled “contactless”
  • Ski courses can be cancelled for free if you have to cancel your vacation (only the written confirmation of your accommodation cancellation is necessary to cancel your ski course)
  • All sanitary measures in regards to staff and office facilities are strictly adhered to and checked regularly

Staff safety

  • Safety is very important to ski schools and their staff. Therefore, their employees will be trained to handle all situations accordingly and behave correctly, while anyone who is even just suspected to be infected will be tested immediately.

Safe ski lift rides

  • The rules displayed at the individual stations apply for rides with the respective ski lifts.
