Salzburger Almenweg
350 KILOMETRES OF HIKING PLEASURE
On the „Salzburger Almenweg“ you can easily leave everyday life behind in the valley
The „Salzburger Almenweg“ is one of the most beautiful long-distance hiking trails in the Alps: it spans 350 kilometers and is divided into 25 stages, leading to 120 alpine pastures in the Salzburg Pongau region. The trail is well-marked and follows the path of the 'Blue Gentian' from hut to hut. All 25 locations in the Salzburg Pongau are also valley towns: from here, literally every path leads up to the alpine pastures. Fresh spring water and green forests are constant companions, promising refreshing coolness in the summer and providing a sensual and health-promoting hiking and nature experience in every season.
The 'Salzburg Alpine Trail' traverses famous holiday regions: it runs through the Salzburg Sports World, over the Tennengebirge, into the Grossarltal, through the Gastein Valley, and the Hochkönig holiday region, across the Salzburg sun terrace, and to Obertauern. Hikers can join the long-distance trail from various points and return to the valley just as easily. The 120 alpine huts are interconnected, providing places to rest and stay overnight. Hikers can choose whether or not to return to the valley. Those longing for a longer break from everyday life can simply stay up in this summer paradise of alpine pastures, with its people, animals, and stories
25 stages for different levels of experience – easy, difficult or with a dog
The stages are as diverse as they are varied in difficulty. The shortest stage is only five kilometers long and can be completed in about 90 minutes. For the most challenging stages, which span 21 kilometers, even an experienced hiker may need up to nine hours of walking time. Additionally, stages can be combined with an extra summit tour. Whether you're a 'food lover,' 'herb collector,' or 'panorama enthusiast – there's something for everyone here.
