The Route
The exclusive Austrian edition of the Stoneman. A breathtaking 360° panoramic view of more than 150 striking Alpine peaks – including Dachstein, Bischofsmütze and the Hohe Tauern with the Großglockner – crowns the climb. Heading south at 1,860 metres, the Stoneman Taurista passes the picturesque alpine landscape of the Oberhütten lake, nestled among the rugged peaks of the Schladminger and Radstädter Tauern. With the 2,110-metre-high “Königsanstieg”, the Stoneman Taurista mountain bike challenge also leads through Obertauern.

Get your stone!
Most riders are so happy after their ride that they take home the Stoneman trophy with the regional Stoneman stone as a souvenir. It was designed by Stoneman founder Roland Stauder himself.
- The trophy – handcrafted from a wooden base, a steel Stoneman figure and a stone taken from the Tauern rock – costs just € 42,-.
If you already own a trophy and want to add the Taurista stone, it costs € 20,-.
Just for clarity: if you complete the tour in one day, the stone is hand-painted half gold. In two days it is silver, and in three days bronze. If you ride an e-MTB, you will receive a natural-coloured stone at the finish.
The Stoneman Taurista is a challenging mountain bike adventure through the Salzburg region, featuring breathtaking panoramas, numerous peaks and a variety of scenic trails.
The route covers around 147 kilometers and about 4,700 meters of elevation and takes you through the mountain world around Obertauern and the Salzburg Sports World.
The Stoneman Taurista is not a race, but a personal challenge. You set your own pace and can experience the route in a completely individual way.
You can complete the route in 1, 2 or 3 days, depending on your fitness level and how sporty you want to be.
Yes, you need a starter package with a map and information about the route. You can reserve it in advance or pick it up on site at partner accommodation providers.
Yes, many sections are also suitable for e-bikes. However, you should have sufficient fitness and experience for alpine tours.
