White Carpet Ride

On 27 November 2026, the White Carpet Ride in Obertauern will turn the floodlit ski slope at the Edelweissbahn into a platform for men’s health and early detection of prostate cancer. Join us on the slopes to support the Austrian Cancer Aid’s “Loose Tie” campaign.

The White Carpet Ride combines a special start to the winter season in Obertauern with a message that matters to us all: men’s health and early detection of prostate cancer. Preventive screening is important, yet all too often postponed. The White Carpet Ride offers a reminder – with a celebration of life, a sense of community and a playful wink.

Where elegance meets snowy slopes, the floodlit ski slope at the Edelweissbahn becomes the “White Carpet”. Men and women are invited to dress in suits and evening gowns and enjoy skiing together under the lights.

The loosely worn tie plays a special role. As the symbol of Austrian Cancer Aid’s “Loose Tie” initiative, it represents a relaxed approach to a serious subject: preventive screening. And perhaps, for one evening, partners might even gently take the men in their lives by the tie – with affection and a playful wink, reminding them to look after themselves and stop putting off prostate cancer screening.

After all, men’s health matters to more than just men. Partners, families and friends can all help make preventive screening a natural part of life. Sometimes, all it takes is a conversation, a gentle nudge or someone saying: Take a moment to look after yourself, too.

Around the floodlit slope at the Edelweissbahn, lights, fire, music and culinary delights create a special atmosphere. The evening brings people together to celebrate life and the start of winter in Obertauern, with the rewarding feeling of making a meaningful difference together.

At the White Carpet Ride, it's not just about raising awareness – men will also have the opportunity to take an on-site PSA rapid test. The testing will be supervised by a urologist, offering participants the chance to learn more about the early detection of prostate cancer. A board member from the field of urology or the Austrian Cancer Aid organisation (Österreichische Krebshilfe) will also be present at the event.
