FULL MOON SWIMMING AT HOCHALM

SALZBURG’S SHINING EVENT-HIGHLIGHT

WHEN: 20 July 2024 |from 4:00 pm.

WHERE: Grünwaldsee, Hochalm Obertauern

Full moon swimming in Obertauern is the highlight of Salzburg's event calendar. On 20 July 2024, experience the magical power of the full moon and the "cleansing" effect of the fresh water of Grünwaldsee. An illuminated full moon will be placed in the middle of the natural mountain lake to serve as a waypoint for the courageous swimmers. Those who brave the initial cold will swim around the "moon" under the supervision of cold-water professionals before warming up again in one of the pleasantly heated hot tubs. Full moon swimming is not only about the experience itself, but also about the proven health benefits of the cold water experience. Of course, there will also be plenty of fun to be had on this evening. On the terrace of Hochalm, music and culinary delicacies will warm up all participants.

TICKETS

The number of participants is limited for safety reasons. The ticket price for participation is a contribution towards costs for the protection by the water rescue and medical team, the provision of safety equipment and the organisation. In addition, swimmers will receive an Obertauern goodie bag and a commemorative certificate.

TIMING

from 4:00 p.m. | Warm-Up with music and moderation in the Hochalm (warm food until approx. 10 p.m.)

from approx. 9:15 p.m. | Full moon swimming
After dark, the participating swimmers – after being called and introduced by the moderator – are to swim around the illuminated full moon which is anchored in the middle of the lake. The swimmers will swim one after the other, they will not be split into groups.

After the swim, each participant has the opportunity to use the sauna or hot tub. There is also a tent to change your clothes, provided by the Tourist Office.

The Skiworld sports shop will be on hand with swimwear for those who decide to come at short notice.

In the run-up to the event, there will be information and instructions on cold-water swimming, interesting facts and mysterious anecdotes about the full moon, as well as music, interviews, and much more. Once the "full moon lap" (approx. 100m) has been completed, the successful participants will receive a commemorative certificate. Afterwards, an atmospheric full moon party with music, full moon beer, and other highlights will take place at Hochalm. ;

SAFETY CONCEPT

Swimming is done in sections and not "on time". Each participant will be given glow-in-the-dark lights around their neck and/or wrist and an illuminated swimming buoy to pull behind them.

In addition, the event will be secured by the Austrian Water Rescue (local branch Altenmarkt), as well as the Dr. Aufmesser medical team.

THE MAGIC POWER OF THE FULL MOON

Of course, the magical power of the full moon and the "cleansing" effect of the fresh water in every respect is most effective when swimming in normal swimwear. So, if you are healthy, confident, and want to feel this "kick" particularly intensively, you should swim "in pure form". Participants who are particularly sensitive to the cold are also free to swim with a warming neoprene suit. We would like to expressly point out that participants join this event at their own risk and the organiser accepts no liability for damage or possible consequential damage.
